Replace Air Filters
The interval for how often you change your air conditioner’s filter depends a lot on the type of filter you have and the environmental conditions of your home.
As a rule of thumb, 1” disposable filters should be replaced every 1 to 3 months.
The thicker, high-efficiency filters are scheduled to be replaced every 6 to 12 months.
A traditional period recommended to change a quality air filter is at least once every three months. At any time however, when the filter looks dirty, that’s the time to change it.
Most often manufactures recommend how long their filters will last or should be changed. When you purchase a new filter, it is a good idea to refer to the packaging for details. The standard time recommended to change a high-quality air filter is at least once every three months. However, if the filter appears dirty, change it immediately! Clogged air filters prevent normal air flow, can cause extra stress on your air conditioner, increase operating costs and decrease your system’s efficiency.
A good practice is to write the “Replace on” date on the filter or maybe a piece of tape near the air filter access so it is very easy to tell how long they have been in service.
